The Winner of the 2012 WPCC

Is Pumpkin #7 by Mel T., the poor little pumpkin who is being boiled alive!! I have to admit, this was my personal favorite and I think just nailed the theme, in addition to such clever use of the pumpkin! I know, I'm gushing, but I'm just so happy to see the trophy head back to Ontario to be set in a place of honour on those beautiful shelves of yours. Plus the Taylor's are dedicated carvers, and I am partial to dedicated carvers. Congrats Mel!

Following close behind Mel's 54 points with 37 of her own was Sarah O and her deadly looking volcano! That was a spectacular idea, well executed within all of the traditional rules and use of an extinguished candle. Excellent dancing of the rules for a very dramatic effect. Sarah beats out her sister Lynn and partner Steve with their great TNT entry, the family rivalry continues!

Third place this year goes to Leanne and her sold out pumpkin disaster! The drama of this true story must have come across the screen on this one, as she struggled on Halloween to find something to carve. Being a trooper, and knowing full well I would be harassing her to no end if she didn't enter, she came through. Well done Leanne, you beat me again.

To support her entry of a non-pumpkin, and his own, Benny (#5 the blended gross brew) presented his case for the Butternut Squash.

Thanks for your perseverance and determination in not being disqualified Benny, my New Zealand family confirms your claims that a squash is indeed a pumpkin (sometimes).

Well folks, hopefully next year Leanne and I won't be so busy, and will be more on the ball, but don't get your hopes up! Now I just have to get that trophy to Mel before next year sometime....

Until then, thanks for playing along,
Sarah and Leanne, Co-chairs of the WPCC
