A New Champion is Born!

And now what you have all been patiently waiting for, the results of this years competition.

In 3rd Place we have our reigning two time champion Mel T. - I'll get you my pretty..and your little pumpkin too!!
"Nice carving skills!" said one judge, and I would agree, but a three-peat wasn't in the pumpkin patch for Mel!!

2nd Place is a veteran of the competition, formerly a judge maybe it's her inside knowledge that has gotten her this far? Rated highly by almost all the judges, it is "fancy-pants carver" Laurie A. with - Pumpkins have nightmares too!

And our winner this year put in an absolute stunner of an entry...

"I think this is my favourite entry from all the years I have participated --awesome!" said one judge.

"Thinking outside the conventional carved pumpkin…I like it!" said another.

A well deserved win is how I feel about it, please put your hands together for Sarah (and Andrew) Olinski and their wonderfully detailed snake "Hisssss.....I am a dark and mysterious killer designed only to consume, swallow you whole, haunting you while you sleep..... !" Andrew gets his name in brackets because I'm not sure what his level of involvement was just yet, but I understand they were one heck of a team!

Here are some post-game comments from the winner(s) -
"Well it took over 2.5 hours to carve and get the right picture - the actual spiral carve wasn't so hard - it was the details, like fangs, mouth, tongue, teeth, diamonds that took longer.  I'm sad to say my arms feel a little sore today from doing it..."
I guess maybe she'll be hitting the gym before next years competition?!

Thank you to everyone who continues to have a bit of fun with us each year, I know I find it a great way to keep in touch with old friends, and to find new ones too! With yet another new winner this year, you never know when your turn might come, so keep on carving!!

Until then, thanks for playing along,
Sarah and Leanne, Co-chairs of the WPCC
