Tardy is the NEW On Time 2010 WPCC is Here!

I will admit I have been slacking on my responsibilities as Co-Chair of the WPCC. In fact if you could vote me off, you probably would. But you can't. I have a blog, and somehow that seems to make me feel like I have power no one can take away. Just try people, just try to rip the small carving knife out of my orange slimy hand! So again, a little tardy on the start time. Next year I'll be better I promise....

So what you've all been waiting for is the theme for this year... drum-roll please......
"HALLOWEEN IN FLIGHT"
Emphasis on Halloween, please no airplanes, think Halloween, then think things that fly, there are many. Although you did an excellent job last year on keeping it super diverse despite the very specific theme we thought we would open the door to originality just a little bit, so don't screw it up folks, or we'll have to stick to two syllable words;)

I expect the competition to be tight again and I look forward to all of your entries. As Halloween is on a Sunday this year, the deadline will be the natural Midnight of the 31st of October.

As per usual the following rules apply and guide the general competition:
  1. The theme this year is "HALLOWEEN IN FLIGHT", and can be whatever your interpretation of "HALLOWEEN IN FLIGHT" is. Please keep in mind however that your design must be ORIGINAL. It is ok to get ideas from other people but you can't just copy someone else's directly and you definitely CANNOT USE A STENCIL...something about it has to be your own.
  2. You are only allowed to use 1 pumpkin (any shape you can find) and toothpicks are ok too, but no other decorations.
  3. You can use any carving tools you want.
  4. You may only send 1 picture of your pumpkin, (keep that in mind when carving) to Leanne or Sarah and we will send it out to the judging panel.
  5. To avoid anyone voting for their own pumpkin, or voting for a friend's pumpkin, we will have an entirely autonomous judging panel voting for their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices.
  6. Photo's must be received by Sunday October 31st at midnight in whichever time zone you happen to be living in. Pictures will then be mailed to the judges, votes will be collected and the winners announced ASAP.
  7. No late entries will be accepted, we're engineers people, not artists.
The trophy will be a little late arriving at the house of this years winner as, well admittedly, it still hasn't made it to Leanne. Ya I know, you would totally dethrone me if you could wouldn't you?! Hell you should see how mad Leanne is, I think she actually got a little bit mad. It was crazy.
Ok, so get carving people!!
I love this time of year:)

WPCC Co-Chair for now, Sarah J. Willie
WPCChampion and Co-Chair (International), Leanne E. Ashworth
