"Cat on Toast"

So the moment Twelve of us have all been anxiously awaiting... the winner of the 2009 World Pumpkin Carving Championship is Leanne Ashworth with her pumpkin #11 titled "Cat on Toast"!

yey. good for her. i'm so happy for her. it was an honour just to participate.

Seriously, if someone who doesn't live on another continent could win next year it would save me a lot of money in shipping costs?! Anyone?

And I didn't let her win just because it's her birthday, I swear. I counted and then triple checked the votes and any way I looked at it I lost and she won, I mean we lost and she won (sorry, sometimes I forget it's not just me that lost).

If you are worried about the integrity of our judging panel, then know we only enlist the best! For two years in a row now my Mom has picked the winner as her #1 vote, and each year it has been the difference between my first and second place finishes, so sleep easy folks, there is no nepotism in our competition! Thanks Mom!!

This is Leanne's third win, she is the 2006, 2007 and now 2009 WPC Champion! Congratulations!

Here is how the votes came down this year now that all of the polls are in:
2nd Place - Sarah W. (#6, Cat with Attitude)
3rd Place - Mark T. (#3, Excavator)
4th Place - Mel T. (#2, Cat in the Hat)
5th Place - Julie S. & Martin (#4, Spiky Cat)
5th Place - Chris T. (#8, Tiger Attacking Child)

And a participation ribbon goes to our other six competitors:
Morgan at age 13 (#1, Scary Cat with ears)
Sarah O. (#5, Cat on Fence)
Caroline T. (#7, Skeletor Cat)
Mike B. and Sarah L. (#9, Scary Cat no ears)
Janice A. (#10, Lioness looking Cat)
Laurie A. (#12, Garfield looking Cat)

Will post judges witty comments tomorrow, trust me they are worth a trip back!!
Sarah
